reflections on empowerment – daily moments Dec 7/19

A story keeps sneaking to the forefront of her consciousness. For 2 hours he talked about his plan that could be accessible anytime he wanted.   The scary thing about it was that he could make it look like an accident and no one would ever be the wiser. Writing about it today actually appeases her compared to last week. His plan scared her for days, lingering in the back of her mind but now she sees it more as his survival…empowering him.  He now has a choice, whether he executes it or not, and that, may be something he never had growing up…a choice.

Some young adults may finally have a chance to feel what it is like to be free from the clutches of their oppressor(s) and it might be too much to handle on their own…too much to process, let alone, heal. They may feel bombarded with too many  nightmares they have lived growing up.

And that is the part of her job that she loves…being there at a moment if and when the may feel ready to reach out and try and make some sense of their nightmares. Sifting through the memories and challenges together. She often feels like a silent sounding board but with a slight difference. “Kindness is language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Mark Twain

Maybe reaching adulthood actually means taking back what was rightfully theirs.

light finally shines
mysteries start to unravel

Walking on her usual path to the bus stop, she rolls  her beaded bracelet with two fingers, whispering. At first she looks up at the sky, then notices the trees and branches waving shyly. Images of Amma floats in front of her, smiling…always smiling. Her mind is like a field of bumper cars going, coming and crashing. She has to slow down and whisper louder to block the distractions that clutter her mind.

Amma is known for her embrace but also for her compassion and humanitarianism

After several series, she is in her own world, sitting on the bus, watching the ice patches floating on the Saint Lawrence. Another mega bridge is being built parallel to the one the bus is crossing. All those men working in the cold. She shivers at the thought.

clouds holding secrets
Mother Nature knows
Snow, rain or hail

clouds holding secrets
Chaos in the world
Tears from heaven

Mother Nature knows
How it will all end
Sins we committed

Snow, rain or hail
March wavers tween two seasons
always be prepared

Written for Haiku Horizons: prompt is hail

Daily Moments – Sunday reflections – (troibun) A troibun is a term I use to term a haibun but rather than having haiku within the text, I have a Troiku which is a new form of haiku created by my mentor, Chevrefeuille at CarpeDiemHaikuKai

Daily moments – some truths hurt (troiku) February 4, 2017

naivety hangs on
realness is in every friend
such foolish thinking

naivety hangs on
authenticity and,
goodness reigns

realness is in every friend
in the land of Utopia
such childish thoughts

such foolish thinking
disillusions
cruel realities

tomorrows
on my mind
how fickle am I?

tomorrows
a lifetime away
infrequent presents

on my mind
musings
living and dying

how fickle am I?
wrestling in vain
empty distractions

Daily Moments August 16 – grey skies (haibun)

Waking up to grey skies, she cannot help but feel there is more to this day then this muted sky. No, definitely, she feels it. Her feline friend does too. Something tangible is felt in the atmosphere she knows will transpire soon…

morning skies
relief is on the way
melancholy haze

Walking home with her grandson after a wonderful day in the city,  she could not help but admire the sky. Once, her grandson was sound asleep, she read about the sad news…such a loss in the world of haiku. And then, she understood the mysteries of the sky tonight.

dash of white clouds
stand out
in the night sky

dash of white clouds
splash of goodness
wings of an angel

stand out
seventeen syllables
more or less

in the night sky
greets an angel with a smile
crescent moon

And then she read this beautiful haiku  posted  by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, after she had written the above troiku.

without lights
the brightness of a blue sky

a star
stands outs tonight
for eternity

only spirits see the path
still, unknown to us

Daily moments – lost innocence (haibun)

Today, she sits in quiet contemplation. A day of rest for the body and yet, the heart remembers stories of untold secrets that remain silenced. Too many pieces to that puzzle missing, she sighs, wishing she could do more…

no one could resist
weeping
 lost innocence

no one could resist
dancing to wise women’s song
free the children

Somehow, that song and action to free other children around the world soothed her…for today.
